JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Right in time for Valentines Day, dozens flocked to Hal and Mal's to give from their hearts. Saturday the downtown Jackson restaurant hosted the 18th annual Mississippi Hearts Against AIDS benefit.
Paintings, photography, sculpture and jewelry by local artists were up for bid. More than 300 local restaurants and stores also donated items for a large silent auction. Mississippi HeARTSs Against AIDS is a non-profit organization focusing on bringing education and awareness to the often deadly disease.
The benefit is the largest fundraiser in the state for HIV and AIDS related issues. Since 1993 hearts has raised more than $750,000 for these causes.
