Accused hit and run driver turns himself into police

RIDGELAND MS (WLBT) - A Ridgeland man turns himself over to police as the driver involved in a violent hit and run. Thirty eight year old Scott Daniel Turnage was charged with hit and run and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.  He was released on $5,000 bond and scheduled to make an initial court appearance on March 9th.

Police said Turnage's SUV struck 53 year-old Edwin Abernathy.  It happened on the night of February 5th on Lake Harbour Drive, between Highway 51 and Wheatley Road.  At last check Abernathy was in guarded condition at a local hospital.
