Bridge needed to be de-iced

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Saturday morning Jackson authorities temporarily barricaded the C.F. Jordan Bridge on Woodrow Wilson Drive. Too many vehicles were slipping after Friday night's cold temperatures caused icy patches to form.

Traffic was detoured as city public works crews spread more de-icing material. MDOT sent spreader trucks out late Friday night and around 9 a.m. Saturday to try to melt some of the overnight frozen spots on interstate bridges.

    One person has died in a crash near Harrisonville, MO, Thursday evening. The crash happened on Missouri Highway 7 and Walker Road. It involved a car and a tractor-trailer. Harrisonville is in Cass County.
    Savannah Nash celebrated her 16th birthday last week. She died Thursday when her car slammed into a semi while she was texting during her first time driving by herself.
