JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Hundreds flock to the Mississippi Fairgrounds to be a part of the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi River.
People pack the coliseum for this afternoon's show full of exciting competitions and entertainment. Here world champion cowboys compete for big prize money riding in barrel racing, bull doggers and ropers. All the while rodeo clown Cecil keeps the crowd laughing.
The Dixie National Rodeo is in its 45th year and dozens of families never miss a chance to see the action.
"We come down ever year. Her dad's a big rodeo fan and we go the little ones here and they love to come so they come every year and it's a good time," said Jason Hill.
We asked one rodeo fan what his favorite part of the rodeo was.
"The bulls and the wild horses," little John Hines answered.
The Dixie National Rodeo has been nominated for Rodeo Of The Year for the past five years.
So if you want to get in on all the action, Monday the shows begin at 8 a.m. with the rodeo and Randy Houser performing at 7:30.
