Special election to fill vacant state Senate seat

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A special election will be held Tuesday, February 16th to fill the Senate District 36 seat left vacant after Senator Vincent Davis resigned last December.

District 36 has precincts in Claiborne, Copiah, Hinds and Jefferson counties.

7 candidates have qualified for the race:

Albert Butler, Port Gibson
Jerry L. Cain, Sr., Fayette
Elvis E. Colenberg, Fayette
Kenneth H. Ramsey, Hazlehurst
Jimmy D. Strong, Utica
Ken Dale Sullivan, Wesson
Jazma Wheeler, Crystal Springs

A runoff election will be held March 9th if necessary.
