JACKSON, MS (WLBT) – For a few hours Sunday afternoon the sprinkles stopped long enough for some families to enjoy time in the park.
It was a fun outing at Laurel Park in Belhaven for foster families with the Methodist Children's Home. Each month foster families and their kids get together. It is a way to bond and build the family unit. Newborns to 11 year-olds live at the children's home.
The agency also has two group homes for older children in Jackson and one each in Natchez, Clarksdale and on the Gulf Coast.
Officials stressed that are in need of good foster families to positively impact the lives of these youngster.
"It hugely changes their lives, their self esteem having a lot of love and family that support them and getting them back on the right track and getting them in a structured type situation with a lot of stability and a lot of security that they were once missing." said Methodist Children's Home President Becky Dotson.
