Robbery victim shot, found bleeding in street

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Tuesday night an armed robbery victim was found bleeding in the middle of the street at Northbar and Dunbar in North Jackson.

It happened around 6:30 pm. One witness said he was on the phone when he heard his mother yell someone had been shot. Another relative screamed for help. The family managed to get the victim inside their home. He told them the person who shot him was trying to take his wallet.

"I got off the phone and I ran out and I saw this guy bent over bleeding from the head so I told my step dad to bring him in and call the police. He was shot in the stomach and he had a gash in his head so they hit him with the pistol," said Christopher Rollins, a witness.

There is no word on whether the robber escaped with the wallet. So far police have not released the shooting victim's identity. He was taken to a local hospital.
