JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - There is a break in the case of Andrea Scott, the Jackson state university researcher who was shot on campus February first. Eighteen-year-old Randall Mason, who lived near the JSU campus, has been charged in the attack.

JSU's Department of Public Safety Interim Chief Tyrone Kidd says Mason is charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Kidd says Scott picked Mason out of a physical lineup on February 22nd.

He was arrested at the city of Jackson. They did pick him up for other related incidents and they informed us they had him because he had become a person of interest for us" said Kidd.

Mason is not a JSU student, but lived on a street near the campus.

Scott was shot twice in the head in the parking lot of the John A. Peoples, Junior science building. She said three men approached her and demanded money as she attempted to get into her vehicle to leave campus.
