Football legends help raise money for burn victims

RIDGELAND, MS (WLBT) - Local football legends gather in Ridgeland for a good cause.

The Alumni House was packed this evening with folks lining up to meet these gridiron heroes. Jerious Norwood, Nate Hughes, Justin Jenkins and others posed for pictures and signed autographs. A sports silent auction also enticed excited fans. The money raised will go to the Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Association.

"We help all the burn victims in Mississippi with travel expenses, medication costs. Walmart gift cards, anything that they need. Then we're also trying to build a home away from home for the family members of the burn victims so that they'll have somewhere to stay when their loved ones are in the hospital," said Amanda Fontaine, Executive Director of the MS Firefighters Memorial Burn Association.

This was the second annual Gridiron Heroes fundraiser for the Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Association. Organizers plan to bring in even more football stars next year.
