New drug surfaces in Vicksburg area, police make arrest

VICKSBURG, MS (WLBT) - A man is in custody in Warren County for possession of a new drug that has surfaced in the Vicksburg area. 

Officers with the Narcotics Division of the Vicksburg Police Department arrested Patrick Traylor Tuesday on Drummond Street for possession of a controlled substance. 

It has been identified as dimethyltryptamine or DMT. 

This is the first known arrest for DMT in Vicksburg. 

Traylor is currently on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. 

He was convicted on a burglary charge in Hinds County in 2007. 

Traylor is in the Warren County Jail pending bond and a revocation hearing.
