JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Thousands of volunteers from metro Jackson churches are set to clean up 13 Jackson Public Schools Saturday.

It's all part of the Shine 2010 project, spearheaded by Transformation Jackson. The project has grown since it began last year.

The JPS administration chose the schools it felt needed some work. At GN Smith Elementary, for example, volunteers will plant flower beds and build a gazebo. They will also plant healthy foods that students on which students can snack, and paint a mural inside the cafeteria.

Volunteers will spend four to six hours working at each school.
