JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Some Jackson Zoo animals and staff took time out to monkey around at a special birthday party Monday morning. The zoo's youngest chimpanzee, "MoJo", turned one year old March 8th.
MoJo and his parents, Jojo and Missy, were treated to birthday cake treats to mark the occasion.
"The keepers have made him and his family a really special treat. They brought in frozen fruit chunks, and they covered it with whipped cream," said zoo spokesperson Rosemary Jalink.
"They knew something was going on, because they started hooting and hollering as soon as the keepers come through this morning."
MoJo continues to ride on his mother's back, but can now also explore on his own. Keepers say he loves getting the occasional treat of gummy worms.
