JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - For now, the city of Jackson will not have a civilian police review board.
The idea was floated by Ward 3 Councilman Kenneth Stokes, but warnings from the city's legal department prompted Stokes to change his proposed ordinance into a resolution.
Attorneys said the language was unclear and left too many legal loopholes.
The council approved the resolution and supporters hope with some retooling, the review board will become a reality.
