Hearing waved in deadly hit & run

RIDGELAND, MS (WLBT) - A grand jury will decide what's next for the man accused in a deadly hit-and-run in Ridgeland. Clinton Mayes waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday in Ridgeland. He is accused of felony hit-and-run, DUI felony causing death, and leaving the scene of an accident.

On February 19th, Ridgeland police say Maurice Murphy was riding a bicycle when a car hit him from behind on Highway-51 near Rice Road. Murphy died at the scene -- and the car sped off. Mayes was arrested later in Madison. He's now free on $275,000 bond as he awaits action by the grand jury.
