School bus accident in Alcorn County

ALCORN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - The state highway patrol was investigating an accident that involved a school bus Tuesday.

It happened Tuesday afternoon on US-45 in front of Biggersville Elementary School in Alcorn County.

The school bus was returning from a science fair in Booneville and attempted to cross the south bound lanes when it was struck by a south bound vehicle.

There were around 26 students and two teachers on the bus.  Twelve students ranging from third to sixth grades were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the car was not injured.
