Posted: Updated:

KANSAS CITY, MO (NBC) - Several Kansas City homeowners are accessing the damage after a high-speed police chase went off-road and through their yards.

Several subdivisions had broken fences and tire tracks running though the yards after a 39-year-old man from Independence, Missouri led police on a wild chase Monday evening.

It started when an officer attempted to make contact with the man around 5:15 p.m.

The man and a female fled from the officer in a red Jeep.

Police later discovered that the Jeep was stolen.

The driver was wanted for felony warrants in both Clay County and Johnson County.

The chase ended after 45 minutes when the man and woman bailed from the vehicle.

The woman was immediately arrested.

The man fled on foot to a nearby burned out building, where he surrendered on the roof.
