A.C.L.U. files lawsuit against North Mississippi school

ITTAWAMBA COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit against Ittawamba County Agricultural High School after a prom controversy.

The A.C.L.U. said Thursday the school canceled prom rather than let a lesbian high school senior attend the event with her girlfriend and wear a tux.

They want the court to reinstate the prom for all students.

The group also charged the school district with violating Constance McMillen's first amendment rights.
