CANTON, MS (WLBT) - We have new information on a former Canton animal control officer. WLBT has learned that Alonzo Esco now faces multiple misdemeanor charges in connection with shooting and dumping stray dogs and cats in a creek, near a shooting range.
The charges were filed earlier this week by Canton Police. Now because Esco is a law enforcement officer, he must have a probable cause hearing in justice court, before the case can proceed and an arrest warrant can be issued.
He was fired back in January by the Canton Board of Aldermen after the animal remains were discovered.
