JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Organizers of a paid security patrol for Jackson's Fondren area say they need more participants to keep costs down and officers on patrol.
The service, provided by Securitas, costs homeowners $89.85 every three months. The cost for businesses who want the service is $150 for three months.
Sister Simmons of the Security Association of Fondren (SAFe) is a longtime Fondren resident. She says any Fondren resident or business operator can sign up and be added to the Securitas officers' patrol routes.
Simmons says several have opted out in recent months, citing cost concerns amid the struggling economy. Simmons is trying to get word to others in hopes that new participants can help offset the loss of those who opted out.
Interested parties can call Simmons at (601) 982-4313 or Jerry Summerford at (601) 982-2316.
