JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Our pets had a chance to grab the spotlight on parade day. Dozens of dogs walked in single file for the St. Paddy's Day Pet Parade! Some of them were painted green, some wore bows and frills.
It's part of the St. Paddy's Day festival that takes place between the Mississippi Museum of Art and the Jackson Convention Complex.
"His name is Clin. He's an Irish Wolfhound, about 185 pounds," says Sheryl Smothers of Ridgeland, pointing to her dog.
"This is Ava, 1 year old," says Lynn Blair of Richland, showing us her dog decked out in Saints gear. "We've been Saints fans for 40 years," she says.
"I like all the dogs and all the little shirts, they look cool. They have little bows and tee shirts," says spectator Kyle Hansen of Brandon.
Parade organizer Malcolm White says he wants everyone to have fun, so he tries hard to separate the family activities from the party-style parade that winds through the streets downtown.
