
JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The deputy superintendent of operations will retire from the Jackson Public School system.
Michael Thomas announced during Tuesday night's school board meeting that he is leaving the district after 16 years.
He graduated from Jackson State University with an accounting degree.
Thomas joined the district as budget director.
He said he wants to continue to work with Jackson through his consulting company Bank Management Systems.
Thomas said the consulting company assists schools and other organizations with improving their bottom line.
His resignation is effective at the end of the month.
