NATCHEZ, MS (WLBT) - Two young children are dead and two adults are seriously injured after a morning fire in happened just before 9 o'clock this morning at 112 east oak street. Fire officials say the children were ages 1 and 2.

Two adults, one man and one woman, were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital. Officials say the woman suffered burns on at least 70 percent of her body.

State fire investigators are looking into what sparked the blaze.

"Two small kids in Natchez, who knows. They could have grown up to be doctors, lawyers, policemen, firemen. And now, we've lost them. And there's nothing we can do about it. So what the city, the community can do, is start fire prevention" said Chief Deputy Fire Investigator Ricky Davis.

We're told the family did not have a smoke alarm.
