JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Her body was burned, but it will take an autopsy to figure out what killed a 50-year-old woman in Jackson.
Around 2:30 Friday afternoon, police were called to Bradley Street in west Jackson, where someone had spotted the burned body. Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart says the woman's body had been there for about two days and had been set on fire.
"It appears to be a black female, approximately 50 years of age. The cause of death is undetermined at this point. The body has been taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy, which will give us an idea of the official cause of death," Grisham Stewart said.
Once the cause has been determined, Jackson police will proceed with their investigation into who the victim is and who's responsible for her death.
