JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - If you're thinking about traveling out of the country this summer, now is the time to get your passport.
Saturday, post offices around the country held a passport fair. It's a rare weekend day when the passport office is open, and it gives people who work during the week a chance to conveniently get it done.
You'll need your certified birth certificate or your old passport as part of your identification. Passports take 4 to 6 weeks to be processed, or can be expedited in 2 to 3 weeks' time.
There are two different types of passports. "A passport book is $100. It's good for everything. Then we offer a passport card, it's $45, and it's only good for cruising and driving in Canada and Mexico," says Dannett Clay, Passport Agent at the Jackson Post Office.
If you missed the passport fair, you can still apply for your passport during the week at your local post office.
