Woman shot during dispute involving a man

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A domestic dispute turns violent, when one woman opens fire on another.

The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Shell gas station at McDowell and Robinson Roads. According to Jackson Police, two women were arguing over a man at the scene.

Witnesses told WLBT that the female owner of a gray car began breaking the windows out when she found another woman with her boyfriend inside her car. We were told the boyfriend had taken the vehicle two weeks ago and someone told her Saturday night where it was.

She came to the scene with a crowbar. Jackson police say that's when the other woman inside allegedly opened fire on the woman with the crowbar.

"I saw a young lady sitting in the vehicle shooting and I didn't know what she was shooting at, why she was shooting. So I pulled over because I knew the young lady who owns the vehicle so I pulled over and she was shot in the stomach and once in the side," said Monieca Coleman, witness to the shooting.

"When I came out I just saw the girl just hitting the windows with the crowbar and that's about it and then I heard gunshots too and that's it and then she was walking around and I saw blood on the side of her," added Monique Dennis, who witnessed the shooting.

The victim was transported to UMC where she is listed in stable condition.

The suspected shooter was arrested at the scene.
