  • Botox: Botox improves and in many cases eliminates wrinkles in the skin caused by repetitive muscle contractions.
    • Why do I need it?
Skin contains the substances elastin and collagen which keep the skin elastic and decrease wrinkling. Unfortunately, advancing age and sun exposure decrease the amount of elastin and collagen in the skin. This decrease results in progressive wrinkling of the skin over time
    • How long does it last?
The effects of Botox generally last 3 to 4 months. Botox is measured in units. An average Botox injection session involves 30 to 40 safe units. The results of properly injected Botox are truly impressive.
    • What should I expect?
We photograph each patient at the initial visit and then mark each potential injection site with a removable marker to insure injection symmetry. This also allows the exact cost of the session to be accurately calculated before the Botox session begins.
  • Dermal fillers: These are used to fill in wrinkles, scars, and to augment the lips and cheeks. They are highly versatile products that result in fantastic results when used properly. We use the following types of dermal fillers:
    •  Juvederm: It lasts from 9 months to a year. The results of injecting Juvederm are immediate. We charge by the syringe. We use numbing cream and a machine called a Zimmer to manage the pain of injection. Once the Juvederm is in place, the skin overlying the wrinkle is massaged to spread the filler out evenly.
    • Radiesse: It contains calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres suspended in a water-based gel carrier. We sometimes use it in the face but prefer to use it in the back of the hands to give them a more youthful appearance. Radiesse can be mixed with the local anaesthetic lidocaine to control the pain of injection.
