JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Startling statistics about meth in the Magnolia State. Lab busts have nearly doubled in the past year.
The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics said so far in 2010, agents have seized 219 meth labs and removed 62 children from homes where the drug was present.
Last year 152 labs were seized and 30 children taken away.
The governor signed a bill in February that requires a prescription in order to purchase pseudoephedrine, a key ingredient in making meth.
Lawmakers hope when it goes into effect July 1 it will curb the manufacture of meth.
