Biloxi Man Sentenced to Federal Prison After Accidentally Killing a Man

Posted: Updated:

BILOXI, MS (WLBT) - A Biloxi man is sentenced to three years in federal prison after accidentally shooting a co-worker in Iraq.  A U.S. district judge sentenced 27 year old Kyle Palmer on Monday.

Court records showed Palmer and Justin Pope worked as security contractors for DynCorp, which is a state department contractor.

Palmer was drunk when he and Pope pointed 9 millimeter pistols at each other during an informal party back in March 2009.

Palmer allegedly fired the weapon without checking whether the gun was loaded and accidentally killed Pope.
