RICHLAND, MS (WLBT) - Three people were arrested after a hit and run injured a toddler in Rankin county. It happened just before 11:00 Monday morning in front of 102 Parkdale Circle in Richland.

The 2 year old boy was struck by a vehicle and left lying in the road.  Richland police say a family friend was parked in front of the house, and he hit the child as he drove away.

The child suffered broken ribs and other injuries which are not life-threatening. He is expected to make a full recovery.

41 year old Ronald Sexton is charged with aggravated assault with a vehicle.  He's being held under a $50,000 bond.

21 year old Kiara Franklin and 20 year old Jessica Laster are charged with misdemeanor child neglect. The pair was left in charge of the child while his mother was at work.  Police say Franklin and Laster could face additional charges.
