Trial date set for elderly man accused of killing wife

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - An elderly Jackson man accused of shooting and killing his wife in 2008 will go on trial May 18th.

Family members contacted Three On Your Side after the trial date of 86-year-old McKinley Lott had been continued several times since his arraignment in 2009.

McKinley is charged with murdering 72-year-old Lee Vera Lott with a rifle.

He has remained free on bond.

Police found her body in the couple's home on Redwood Avenue.

Hinds County Circuit Court Judge Winston Kidd is the trial judge.
