PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (WLBT) - A Port St. Lucie man is under arrest after a woman complained that he broke into her house and sniffed her underwear.

In a 911 call on March 28 the victim claimed a man with long curly hair was inside her residence and that she thought she recognized him.

The woman believed the man slept in her bed and went through her personal belongings. She said when she inspected her closet she found her underwear and her 3 year old daughter's underwear scattered all over the floor.

When the man ran away she called 911. Police later discovered a roommate of the victim's landlord matched the description of the suspect.

Officers eventually caught up with Demetrio Fermin Tiu Hernandez. They say he was "highly intoxicated" at the time. Police say the victim identified Hernandez as the person she found inside her home.

According to the report, he told officers that he "didn't remember anything that happened and he was drunk."

Police say there was a broken window leading to the bathroom where the alleged break-in happened. There were also several lace panties littering the room.

They say the 21-year-old Hernandez sustained a laceration on his right forearm from when he climbed into the window. Police have charged him with burglary to an occupied dwelling.
