JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Hundreds of students, some once labeled as failures, others down on their luck celebrated accomplishments today. All the gratitude goes to a statewide program called Jobs for Mississippi Graduates.

The conventional hall at Jackson State University in Jackson was packed with seniors and their job specialist instructors. Students from every part of Mississippi taking part in accomplishments.

Kids who may have faced a tough time in the past, but were given an important life changing transformation thanks to "Jobs for Mississippi Graduates." It's a program aimed toward at-risk youngsters. "Where was your life going before you got into this program? Probably nowhere really, because I had no idea what I was doing. What's your dream? My dream is to get to college, double major in forensic science and English with a minor of social psychology," said Heather Wheat of Petal.

Due to the on-going success of students, JMG continues to expand its services to school districts across Mississippi. Instructors say it pays off by helping to remove economic, social and academic barriers that stand in the way of a bright future.
