JACKSON, MS (WLBT)- A grocery store clerk is recovering at a Jackson hospital after being shot during a robbery attempt. It happened Thursday night in front of Black's grocery on South Drive.

When Patel refused, he was shot in the stomach. The men fled empty handed.
Patel was taken to university medical center, where he remains in critical condition tonight.

We wanna get these guys off the streets, were still in the process of conducting the investigation. Detectives are still out there talking with individuals in the neighborhood to see if someone may have heard anything."
No arrests have been made in this case.
