JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - On Good Friday a local church invited families to reflect on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Madison performed the stations of the cross. About 200 people walked through the hour long portrayal of Jesus' journey to Calvary, beginning with his appearance before Pontius Pilate and ending with his resurrection.
A couple dozen parishioners dressed in costume, played instruments and sang. Organizers hope the families in attendance will use the performance to grow in their own spiritual journeys.
"The stations represent an internal journey. Not only is it a journey of Jesus, but it is our life journey. It's the times when we stumble. It's the times we feel we're on trial either by others outside or ourselves," said St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church director of music ministries Judy Bain Sudduth.
