Holmes Co. shooting ruled murder-suicide

HOLMES COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Sheriff Willie March has ruled the double shooting from Saturday afternoon a murder-suicide.

Sheriff March says a 911 call came into his office around 12:30 Saturday afternoon. Deputies found two bodies inside a home located on Highway 12 just outside Durant's city limits.

Sheriff March says 17-year-old Jesmine Nicole Cherry was shot to death by her boyfriend, 23-year-old Joseph Myrick.

Myrick later turned the gun on himself, shooting himself in the head.
