JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - It is unclear what caused the wreck that killed a 58-year-old Jackson woman. Traffic was slowed along east and westbound lanes of Interstate 20 at the Gallatin Street Exit for more than two hours as Jackson Police and Fire Departments worked to reach the Chevy Impala.
Just after 6:00 p.m. Sunday the vehicle lost control and landed in the median. Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart said it appeared the black female driver suffered blunt force trauma to the head.
"Identity is not being released at this time pending notification of her family. Currently I can not tell you what the cause of death is. She is scheduled for an autopsy. We will rule out medical verses accidental circumstances," said Stewart.
No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.
