JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Some Jackson elementary students are back in Mississippi after an adventure in the nation's capital at the invitation of the First Lady.

A banner signed by JPS Superintendent Dr. Lonnie Edwards and Pecan Park Elementary teachers and students welcomed home the group who spent the past few days in Washington.

Thirty students and eight staff members traveled by bus to D.C.

Monday they hunted Easter eggs and played games on the White House Lawn during the annual East Egg Roll.

The special White House invitation came from First Lady Michelle Obama who visited Pecan Park in March while promoting her Let's Move Wellness Initiative.

They were also able to pack in tours of museums and historical monuments while in Washington.
