JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The 27th annual Business and Technology Expo kicked off Wednesday at the Mississippi Trade Mart.
Thousands are expected to attend the two-day event, which features business seminars and over 100 exhibitors. It's aimed at helping those in the business community connect with different companies. Organizers said they hope it helps open doors in a tough economy.
"Hope they have the opportunity to network with other businesses people and learn the trends that are going on. We're looking to see some improvement in the economy this year, we feel like, and this will be a chance to kick that into gear and have everybody get together for that," said Alan Turner, publisher of the Mississippi Business Journal, which throws the event.
For the first time in nearly 30 years, the event is being held in the spring. It had to be rescheduled from it's original date in January because of Jackson's water crisis.
The expo runs until 7:30 Wednesday night and from 10 am until 3 PM Thursday.
An "After Hours" business party kicks off at 5 PM Wednesday, featuring live music, a cash bar, and food from local restaurants.
Entrance is free as long as you bring your business card.
