JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Several Mississippi nursing home organizations file suit against the state's division of Medicaid Thursday.
The Mississippi Health Care Association, The Independent Nursing Home Association, and dozens of nursing homes across Mississippi filed the lawsuit in Hinds County Chancery Court.
They want to stop Mississippi's division of Medicaid from imposing steep cuts in funding for services that nursing homes provide to their residents.
Medicaid recently proposed cuts of more than 14 million dollars in reimbursements for health care provider services for April, May, and June of this year.
Almost half of the proposed cuts being targeted to nursing homes.
Thursday's lawsuit expands legal action already pending and the court has earlier ruled similar cuts to be in violation of state law.
