JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson Police officers saturate the capital city Friday and Saturday.  It was an attempt to decrease a recent spike in violent crime.  Jackson Police were on the look out for speeders, loiterers, drunk drivers and everyone breaking the law.  Road blocks were set up throughout the city and an extra 150 officers patrolling the streets.

"The message that we intend to send is that the City of Jackson is serious on crime and that we are not going to stand by and tolerate a lawless city.  We are here to enforce the laws of the city and to make the city as safe as possible for our citizen," said Police Chief Rebecca Coleman.

Chief Coleman said they are also revealing for the first time their DUI units consisting of new outfitted cruisers and specially trained officers.
