DECATUR, MS (WLBT) - No charges will be filed after a prospective student claimed that she was raped on the campus of East Central Community College. The girl, a high-school student, had claimed she was raped after touring the ECCC campus in Decatur.
"After interviewing all identified witnesses and reviewing all physical evidence identified and collected, the decision has been made by the ECCC Police Department in consultation with the alleged victim's parents, that there was insufficient evidence to pursue rape charges against any person(s) in this case," said ECCC's president, Dr. Phil Sutphin, in an email to the media. "Any further action in this matter will be campus-based disciplinary actions."
The girl had alleged the incident happened after 10:00 on the night of Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in a men's residence hall.
