JACKSON, MS (WLBT) He's only in his teens, but police say he's one of the most dangerous criminals in the metro area.

Tuesday law enforcement from across the city spent much of the day searching for Jawayne Carter but were unable to capture him.

Fifteen-year-old Jawayne Keith Carter is wanted for a Pearl home invasion. Investigators said he broke into a home on Luling Drive in Pearl last Wednesday, and robbed a 17 year old at gunpoint.

Pearl police officers thought they had a break in the case Tuesday morning, when they spotted Carter near the intersection of Raymond Road and Camellia Lane.

When he realized he was spotted, Carter jumped a fence and ran through several yards escaping the officers. Jackson police were called in to assist in the search, but Carter got away.

An hour later investigators received word that Carter was seen walking on Chestnut Street near downtown Jackson. Officers converged on the area and set up a perimeter. A nearby abandoned apartment complex was searched, but Carter was nowhere to be found.

"He's going to be on the run; he's laying his head wherever he can. He does not have a home to lay at. He's not a gentleman you want to be in any city in the metro area," said Lt. Brian Ellis, of the Pearl Police Department.

Pearl investigators said Carter should be considered armed and dangerous. He's also wanted in a house burglary in Pearl.

He also fled from officers last Friday, climbing an eight foot fence at the Christian Brotherhood Apartments, where he jumped out of a stolen car.

Anyone with information on his location is asked to call police.
