JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Hundreds of Mississippi's students were shining brightly Thursday for their academic achievement.
They are the 266 star students of the state who made the highest scores on the ACT test for their school districts.
Three students who made a perfect score of 36 on the test were recognized as top scholars.
Stephen E. Leavelle of Clinton High School received a $16,000 scholarship, Rachel Wehr of Jackson Preparatory School received a $20,000 scholarship, and Kenneth Fang from the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Sciences received a $24,000 scholarship.
Star teachers were also recognized.
This is the 44th year the Mississippi Economic Council has sponsored this education celebration. Nine out of the top 20 students made a perfect score on the act.
