Annual fashion show raises money for children with diabetes

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The latest styles were on display Thursday for the seventh annual Diabetes Foundation Ultimate Fashion Show and Champagne Brunch held at the Country Club of Jackson.

Maggie Wade participated as Mistress of Ceremonies.

Plus, WLBT's own Wendy Suares, Monica Hernandez and Julie Straw served as models for the event.

The money raised will go directly to help children at Camp Kandu, a camp that gives kids a chance to have fun while learning how to take charge of their diabetes.

"Every dollar we raise stays in Mississippi, benefits all people that have diabetes in our state. We help children, we help seniors. We have 400 people in here today for this fashion show having a great time," said foundation Executive Vice President Mary Fortune.

The event also hosted the "Car for a Cure" giveaway.

Each year the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi partners with Patty Peck Honda to give a lucky raffle winner a new Honda Civic Coupe.
