HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A Hinds County judge denies a lawsuit filed by some pharmacists and nursing homes.
The groups wanted to stop Mississippi's Division of Medicaid from imposing steep cuts in funding for services that nursing homes provide to their residents.
With tax collections down, the medicaid budget has projected a three-month deficit.
In a statement Thursday, Medicaid Executive Director Robert I. Robinson said in part, "We are pleased with the court's decision and again ask that our providers continue to work with us during these difficult times."
Mississippi is in the middle of the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.
"Everyone has had to tighten their belts during these times," said Robinson. "Pharmacists and nursing homes are no different than the rest of us."
