JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The fourth Fannie Lou Hamer Humanitarian Awards luncheon was held Friday at Jackson State University.
Six Mississippians were recognized for their contributions in service and leadership in pursuit of social, economic, political and environmental justice and equality.
The honorees were Charles McLaurin of Indianola, Reverend Holace Buckley, Bill Minor, Dorothy Stewart, Dorothy Triplett and the late Jimmie Travis, all of Jackson.
The Fannie Lou Hamer National Institute On Citizenship and Democracy at Jackson State was founded more than a decade ago.
