JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Everyday Operation Shoestring helps children and families in the Capital City. Dozens celebrated the organizations success with a Spring Fling. The party was held at the Mississippi Museum of Art.
Delicious finger foods were served and the crowd was entertained by bands, the Horse Trailer and Wiley and the Checkmates. Operation Shoestring provides after school and summer programs to children, dropout prevention services, parenting classes and much more. Money raised Friday will help organizers expand their services to reach more children and families.
"We see that what is good for a child in our after school program is good for her mother and good for that block and good for the neighborhood and good for our whole city. So we see this connectivity to what happens for kids and families in the neighborhoods that we serve in the heart of Jackson. It helps the whole city," said Executive Director Robert Langford.
Operation Shoestring is celebrating more than four decades of working with families in Jackson's inner city.
