JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Mississippi is giving a nod to it's past. It's bringing back the tradition of holding events on the old capitol green.
A "Gathering On The Green" took place Saturday on the lawn outside the old capitol building. There were vendors and local exhibitors. As well as old-fashioned children's games. Blacksmiths and woodworkers also displayed their wares in the spring weather.
"It's a traditional gathering space for downtown. I heard somebody say, the old capitol green is Mississippi's front yard, and I thought that was a great idea, so we definitely want to do this every year and maybe have other events out here," said Clay Williams, Old Capitol Museum Director.
The event was the first of it's kind.
