WATERBURY, CT (NBC) - Connecticut police are searching for an armed robber who's likely still feeling the effects of a botched weekend hold-up.
The man fired a shot as soon as he entered Waterbury's United Liquors. The bullet narrowly missed store owner Dilip Keshwala.
A 70-year-old neighbor Richard Riley heard the shot and rushed over.
"Then he pulled out the gun he says 'I'm gonna shoot somebody!'" Riley later said. "I went crazy, I said 'You're gonna shoot me, I'm gonna fight you!'"
In the scuffle, the intruder fired a second bullet.
Then Riley says he gave his long-time friend a pretty clear order: "Beat this sucker with a bat!"
That's when Keshwala came in swinging, striking the robber several times with his bat.
The robber got away, but police say thanks to the security camera video, they've got his picture.
