JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A teen criminal who was on the run, and hard to catch, has been arrested in the Big Easy.

Pearl police say they arrested 15-year-old Jawayne Carter at a home in New Orleans Friday. Carter was wanted in a home invasion, that occurred in Pearl on April 7th. He has been returned to Mississippi and is being held in the Rankin County jail, on $500,000 bond.

Pearl police spent much of last week searching neighborhoods in south Jackson for the teen. He was spotted twice but managed to escape.

Officers did manage to arrest two other teens who were involved in the home invasion with Carter.

Lt. Butch Townsend said, "Anybody that would go into a residence where people are with a gun, is certainly a threat enough, but add to that his immaturity of his age and so forth. It's just a recipe for disaster be it in Pearl, Jackson, or New Orleans, so anybody of that caliber off the streets is a good thing."

Carter is being charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony and possession of burglary tools. He will be arraigned in Pearl Municipal Court Thursday.
